 And this is today!!

May 25,2013

All 11 ducklings have survived;  in 10 more days they will be able to fly!!

They are a little hard to distinguish from their Mommy!

(she is in the back watching!)

 HAVE A WONDERFUL HOLIDAY WEEKEND!!!

AND PLEASE ENJOY WILDLIFE AND THE OUTDOORS!

ALL THESE DUCKLINGS HAVE SURVIVED…….WHEN I WALK OUT THERE……HEY SWIM TOWARD ME.  I don’t ever “touch” them;

(it is very tempting)  However, I do not want them ever to be vulnerable  to people who do not want to “help them”;  and who want  “eat them”!

Lots of ducks do fly to our pond……..(they do fly to where they “hatch”!Last January……..65!

They are welcome!! I live in heaven……and I haven’t even died yet!!!

thank you for following me!  I am astonished!!!

  1. I just returned from a walk to Beacon Hill Park here in Victoria, British Columbia, where I enjoyed all the ducks and their ducklings swimming in the park’s many ponds. Our ducklings are quite a bit further behind yours, though, and look more like the tiny fluff balls in your first picture!

  10. My darling, I would have all of them named by now! I am such a silly goose over animals & wildlife of all kinds. Just beautiful that you have nurtured them in this way. This is what all of mankind is supposed to do. God Bless America and all our military & their families,
    and God Bless you & Adam!

    1. Isn’t it completely astonishing!!??

      and they still cannot fly! when the feathers on the ends of their wings cross…..they can fly! Because of the houses floating (and tethered on the pond) the predators cannot get to them! I scare off the winged ones! (hawks and Great Blue herons)! The houses shelter them from the owls and night-time predators……raccoons, bobcats, coyotes, skunks, and various others.
      They hear me walking on the gravel…..and they scurry to the side. I have to stop myself from naming them!

      They are such beautiful birds. They all look the same…..for the first 6 months ! Camouflage done beautifully!
      and they do recognize my voice! (many generations!!) It is quite amazing!!
