Surprise!! Surprise!! Chinoiserie Paintings & Prints by Harrison Howard

by Posted On

I am running this post again!

I just bought another of his beautiful “giclees” for my granddaughter Poppy’s birthday!

I thought many of you hadn’t subscribed to my blog yet;  and would love to see these!

I have always loved, loved , loved Chinoiserie!! I have been planning to do a post on it!  It is all through my house;  and has been in all of my houses!

In many different forms!

However, I have never found a contemporary (as in “alive” today)  artist who painted paintings that captured the particular idiom I adore!

Imagine my surprise when I fetched the following out of my “SPAM FOLDER”!!

(I DON’T THINK I HAVE EVER EVEN LOOKED AT MY SPAM FOLDER.  THIS MESSAGE CAME THE DAY I OPENED MY SPAM FOLDER!!)

THIS IS THE MESSAGE WITH THE PICTURES ATTACHED.

I am an artist in San Diego, and one area of my focus is chinoiserie themes that depart from the most traditional sort of interpretation. I’ve inserted a handful of images below with sizes and prices. I have other work, and if you are interested I hope you’ll get in touch. These images are available as limited edition prints also.  Price lists and images of all 38 chinoiserie prints are available as well as an overall line of 104 prints and other original paintings. Some images, (mostly chinoiseries), are not yet on my website.

Me, I’m all for the palm-sprouting Mandarin galloping full tilt towards the parasoled lady, but training his eyepiece, interestingly enough, on those somewhat voluptuous tree-borne snails.

How are your ducks and ducklings doing? I thought of you while watching the Nature show called “The Original Duckumentary”! It was on PBS so if you did not yet see it, you may be able to catch it online. Maybe your local PBS station has it on the website. I hope your conversations with the bobcat are going well.

Oh! Hi! You delightful person! We now have 9 tiny chicks…….and another batch of 7!

I let the 7 out with their mother……(big mistake I will not make again….they were 3 weeks old) their mother had taught them to scratch….etc. but they slept under her……

I let them out for 10 minutes……I heard a commotion……the mother was a pile of feathers. Won’t make that mistake again. I feel so terrible…….So I got a heat lamp; and now they are almost old enough……to go into the “big coop” with many different ages.

Guilt…….horrible……she did teach them a lot!

Now we have a new group (9)! under a hen. I will not ever let the chicks out until they are no longer dependent on their mother! Never again!

We are up to 30! (chickens; not ducks!) Our mother duck hatched 11; and all lived to be full grown……and sometimes come to visit!!

The seven (baby chicks) are doing fine under the heat lamp. I apologize to them every single day!

Nature is a wild ride! we do the best we can!!!
Thank you for reading!! So much!!!
