A Look Back! Living The Dream In 1996

Look what I found!

I was on a delightful television program in 1996! It was called “Dream Living”; and it was about people who live in their Dreamhouses.

I had seen our house in Pasadena when I was 13 and was determined to live in it someday. And I DID!!

It is kind of blurry, but it is a delightful story and the hostess Jody Daley, was a delightful hostess!

A few of my friends have seen this scrolling around in hotel rooms. I was thrilled to find it on a thumb drive!

I hope you enjoy it!

It was filmed right before we decided to move to Montecito!”

  1. I remember this program! It was the first time I had heard of you. Being a fellow Francofile, I was enchanted! I had this on a VCR tape somewhere. Now we have no where to plat it. I have looked for pictures of this Pasadena house on Pinterest, but couldn’t find it. I have followed you sonce that time.

    1. Oh my goodness! What an enormous compliment! I am completely astonished! I cannot imagine a bigger compliment!

I am so glad I found this and decided to post it! I haven’t posted a blog in such a long time! I wonder how you found it! My subscriber list became “contaminated” by spammers; so I had to start over at square one. I was so discourged!

I will start blogging again…..I have some new stories to tell!!

Thank you so much for this comment. It means the world to me.

  2. I wish the quality had been better but it didn’t matter – this was delightful! Thank you for posting it! Susan (a/k/a @the_mrs.ramsay)

  3. This was such a treat to watch…you and your beautiful home are simply stunning! I found you through the one and only Contessa and have swooned over your posts…j’adore the decor, gardens, French coop, et. al. in this journey into the past. I would love to send you my two children’s books…a common raven named Noir who speaks French and a blue and gold macaw named Taco star in The Time Seekers and a v. smart cat and dapple dachshund AND chickens who rule the roost in a special coop star in The Fantastic Tails of Sammy & Mr. Chips. The Contessa has read both and loved them–they are books for ALL ages…if you would email me your mailing address, I will have Taco & Noir deliver!! Debbie

  4. Oh my what a find! I so enjoyed watching this…how special that you achieved your dream! I have been following you for years and love your style. I can see how so much of the Pasadena home was carried over to your beautiful Montecito home. I hope that you are now back in your home and any repairs are complete, and you can sit back and enjoy the holidays to come!

  5. Gep Durenberger was a very prominent west coast antique dealer and taste maker- and when I attended FIT I would hear Professor Barrows talk about him and they knew each other quite well. Many years later Billy and I were out in California and visited his shop -Which he had left behind and I remember how charming and beautiful it was -there was an old black Mercedes sitting in the back covered in a fine layer of dust- And in the below image you can see a small cottage where Gep once lived – charming!
